CUBETTES FALL TO 0-2 IN DISTRICT PLAY

A 10-run 7th inning for the Waller Lady Bulldogs was wiped out by the weather, but the final result remains the same, as the Lady Bulldogs downed the Brenham Cubettes, 7-3 at Alumni Field, Tuesday night.

For five innings, the Brenham Cubettes and Waller Lady Bulldogs fought a tightly contested district softball game at Alumni Field.

Waller held a 3-0 lead after the top of the third after scoring a run in the first and two in the third.

The Cubettes (5-3/0-2) rallied with a run in the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game up at 3-3.

Waller scored four runs in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs erupted for 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 17-3 lead, but while the Cubettes were batting in the bottom of the inning, the rains came pouring down, forcing the contest to be called, and erasing the 10 runs Waller had scored and the two runs the Cubettes had put on the board in their half of the seventh.

The Cubettes will take part in the A&M Consolidated Tournament, Thursday through Saturday at Veterans’ Park in College Station.

Friday, the Cubettes will face Cuero at 11:00 and Tatum at 3:00.  Friday, Brenham takes on Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 9:00.  Saturday the Cubettes will play Port Neches-Groves at 1:00 and A&M Consolidated at 3:00.

Both Saturday games can be heard on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.
