37TH SCARECROW FESTIVAL

Scarecrows are all over Chappell Hill this week as the community gets ready for the 37th Annual Scarecrow Festival this weekend.

The Chappell Hill Historical Society have prepared the buildings and facilities for the thousands of visitors expected to come out Saturday and Sunday.

Chappell Hill Historical Society President John Durrenberger says they have nearly 300 juried vendors, children’s activities, plenty of parking and plenty of family activities during the extended hours of the event.

Durrenberger says the Scarecrow Festival will open Saturday from nine am to six pm and again Sunday from 9am to five pm.

Joel Romo of the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce says to be prepared for a lot of fun and plenty of scarecrows.

Romo says there is plenty of entertainment from Tina Tillman and the Cloggers, Providence Ironworks, Buddy Graves, Spark in the Dark and the young Abigail Taylor.

He hopes you will come out and shop at the festival, tour the downtown area, take pictures of the scarecrows while visiting the rich history of the community.  He says this is a good time to take in the Chappell Hill Museum, Rock Store and numerous historic sites around the town.
