$400,000 AVAILABLE FOR LOW INCOME HOUSING FOR A SHORT WHILE

Paul Turney of the Brazos Valley Affordable Housing Corporation says there is still $400,000 left from the Community Housing Development Organization even after federal funding for the program ended.

Turney told this (Tuesday’s) meeting of the Washington County Commissioners that this money could put people living at or near the poverty line into homes of their own.

The County Commissioners voted to re-certify the CHDO so those funds could be used.   Turney said the County, as the lead entity of the Organization has until October to use this money.  Most of the money would be used as down payments and Turney says the amount is enough for three or four down payments.
