AGGIE FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARRESTED–KICKED OFF THE TEAM
Texas A&M football coach Kevin Sumlin Tuesday, announced that sophomore defensive standouts Darian Claiborne and Isaiah Golden have been kicked off the Texas A&M football team for “a pattern of intolerable behavior’.
Later it was announced by College Station Police that the two were arrested in connection with an aggravated robbery.
According to police, the two had allegedly set up a deal to sell marijuana then robbed the three buyers at gunpoint. One of the victims was also hit in the head with the gun.
Claiborne was arrested after a traffic stop in Bryan. Golden was arrested on the A&M campus a short time later.
Claiborne, a linebacker, played in all 12 games of the regular season and was 3rd on the team with 89 total tackles. He was expected to be one of the defensive stars this fall.
Golden, a defensive lineman played in 12 games last year, recording 32 tackles.
Claiborne and Golden are charged with three counts of aggravated robbery. Bond has been set for each suspect at $120,000.
The investigation continues and police say additional charges and arrests are possible.
