AREA COUNTY JUDGE RACES

Several area counties had contested races for county judge.

Long time incumbent Austin County Judge Carolyn Bilski is stepping down at the end of this term.  There was a six way race in the Republican Party primary to replace her.  John F. Graham and Tim Lapham  will be in the May runoff.  Graham received 34  percent of the vote while Lapham received  31percent of the vote.  There were no Democrats in this race.

Long time Fayette County Judge Ed Janecka easily won another term by defeating challenger Lee Allen Fritsch in the Republican primary.

Ben Leman won the Republican nomination for Grimes County judge.

In Waller County, it will be Republican Trey Duhon against former County Commissioner Sylvia Cedillo.  The main issue in this contest was the controversial landfill proposal.  Cedillo has become one of the prime opponents to the landfill. Incumbent Glen Beckendorf did not run for reelection.
