ASHLYN KORTH CHOSEN WASHINGTON COUNTY FAIR QUEEN

  

Ashlyn Korth has been named the Queen of the 146th Washington County Fair.

Ashlyn was crowned at the opening ceremonies Saturday night at the fairgrounds.

Ashlyn is a senior at Brenham High School and represents the Washington County 4H.  She is the daughter of Keith and Kristi Korth.  She sold 2,559 tickets for a total of $63,989 raised.  She also scored 90 out of a possible 100 possible points.

The five candidates sold a total of 6,908 tickets for at total of $172,713 raised with is over $9,000 above last year’s total of $163,686.

First Runner-up is Haley Nutt, the daughter of Boyd and Joy Nutt.  Haley is sponsored by the Burton FFA.

The Judges’ Choice Award and the Best Interview Award was presented to Caylee Rocka.  The Big Heart Award winner was Heather Ruemke.  The Best Essay winner was Lundy Porter.

Saturday also featured the Junior Mr. and Miss contest.  The 2014 Junior Miss is Jordan Kelm and the Junior Mr. is Kaden Stewart.

Chosen Miss Photogenic is Haylie Tosta, while Mr. Photogenic is Kaden Stewart.  Hannah Warmke was selected Miss Congeniality and Wesley Neuendorff was Mr. Congeniality.  Best Western Attire went to Haylie Tosta.

 

The fair will continue throughout the week.

Judging for the Junior Livestock exhibits will be Wednesday, with the auction set for 2:00 Thursday afternoon, live on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.

Entertainment also kicked off Saturday evening with Wade Bowen and Josh Grider.

Sunday, will feature the Grateful Geezers.

Tuesday is Tejano Night with Los Rayos del Sol and Notable.

Wednesday is Christian Music night with the band, Building 429.

Thursday will feature three Texas bands including:  1100 Springs, The Tejas Brothers and Two Tons of Steel.

Friday night, Blacktop Gypsy will open up for Robert Earl Keen.

And, Saturday, the closing night of the fair, will see Texas Music icon Gary P. Nunn opening for the Randy Rogers Band.

At the rodeo arena, CPRA team roping is set for Tuesday night at 7:15.  The Bull Riding Extravaganza and the Mutton Bustin’ is Wednesday night beginning at 7:30.

The CPRA runs from Thursday thru Saturday at 7:30 nightly.
