AUSTIN COUNTY FINDING WAYS TO TRANSPORT MILITARY VEHICLES.

Austin County Judge Carolyn Bilski says the County Commissioners have made arrangements to transport the left over military vehicles from the now closed BAE plant in Sealy to a military depot in California.

Judge Bilski says when the commissioners meet today ( Monday) they will probably approve a secondary rail lease with Western International Gas and Cylinders, and Newman Trucking Company to move the remaining stock of Mine Ambush Resistant Protective vehicles.

Some of these vehicles have been given to area communities.  The Austin County sheriff’s office and the Brenham police department each received one.

These vehicles were made by BAE, which was closed down after they lost the defense department contract to build them.

The Austin County Commissioners meet  today (Monday)  at the courthouse in Bellville.
