AUTO THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER ELUDING WASHINGTON COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT

  

An auto theft suspect who eluded Washington County Sheriff’ Deputies Tuesday afternoon after a high speed chase, was caught Friday afternoon in Austin, after leading law enforcement officers on another high speed chase.

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak said 34-year old Louis Duane Ryhne  of Austin had gone back to Austin after ditching a vehicle stolen  earlier in the week in Washington County.

He fled from a pickup truck stolen in Austin and stole another vehicle on Old Mill Creek Road.  He fled from the pickup truck,  causing it to be totally damaged.  He then allegedly  stole a vehicle on Old Mill Creek Road, but abandoned it in  Burleson County.  He says Ryhne could be  eventually be returned to Washington County.

Hanak said Austin police spotted Ryhne at about three pm Friday, in a vehicle reportedly stolen in Austin and led them on a chase down interstate 35.

Ryhne will face charges in Travis and Washington Counties.

Hanak said Ryhne had gotten away from Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies, Brenham police, DPS troopers and Deputy Constable William Shepherd.  He was being tracked by ONSTAR and was heading into Brenham from Austin.  The chase then began.  Ryhne fled from that pickup truck  on FM 390  The pickup truck was found but totally damaged. He allegedly stole an SUV from Old Mill Creek Road that was found, undamaged in Burleson County.  After an extensive search, officers could not find Ryhne.  Sheriff Hanak said this ‘five time loser’ had made his way back to Austin.
