BLINN NAMES DR. ROBERT BRICK INTERIM DEAN

  

Dr. Robert Brick has been named interim dean for the Division of Science, Engineering & Mathematics, Blinn College has announced.

Brick first came to Blinn as a part-time instructor in 1991-92, teaching General Biology I and II. In 1995, he was named chairman of the Division of Natural Sciences, managing 70 faculty members in the Biology, Chemistry, Geology and Physics departments.

Brick served as division chair until 2009, when he was named the College’s vice president of the Division of Applied Sciences and Workforce Education. In that role, Brick oversaw all the College’s technical education programs, including Allied Health, Business, Information Technology and Public Service, as well as the College’s workforce and job training programs. He helped develop the Therapeutics Manufacturing program and moved five Allied Health programs to the Texas A&M Health Science Center, where the Health Science Division is now based.

A member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association and the World Aquaculture Society, Brick earned his Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University and his Master of Science and Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Hawaii.

Dr. John Beaver, who was previously named interim dean for the Division of Science, Engineering & Mathematics, will resume his duties as dean of educational partnerships.
