BLINN TO HAVE COMMUNITY HOMECOMING

  

Blinn College is once again inviting the entire community to join in the tradition and history of the oldest publicly-owned community college in the state during its Homecoming Week, next week, October 14 through the 19th.

          Blinn has a week of student and community activities set for this year’s celebration.

          The events are on all week long, beginning at 11:30 Monday morning when voting begins for the College’s Homecoming king and queen.  The winners will be announced at halftime at the Homecoming game.

          For the second consecutive year, Blinn Student Leadership and Activities is inviting the entire community to take part in the festivities.  Family weekend begins at four pm Friday, October 18th, with a Student Center pep rally/block party that includes a disc jockey, free food, and prizes.  After that students and families, and the rest of the community, are encouraged to the fun when the number one ranked Blinn Volley ball team takes on Lee College at theP.E. Building.

          Saturday morning at 11:30am, Blinn will honor five new members of the College’s Hall of Honor.  State Rep. Lois Kolkhorst, Janis Sneed, Charles W. Schwartz, Terry Tottenham and Nathan Winkelman will be named to that Hall, bringing the total number of recipients to 56, since the Hall was founded in 2003 by the Blinn Ex-Students Association.

          The week concludes at three pm Saturday when the Buccaneer football team take on Navarro College at Cubs Stadium.
