BRENHAM FCCLA ATTENDS STATE LEADERSHIP MEETING
Brenham FCCLA participated in the State Leadership Meeting and STAR event competition (Students Taking Action with Recognition) in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 9-12.
Lundy Porter, Elizabeth Schulze, and Olivia Howk took first place in Chapter In Review Portfolio; Hannah Damon and Whitney Blalock were awarded second place in Chapter Service Project Portfolio; and Shelby Thiel received second place in Teach and Train. All three of these individuals/teams will be advancing to the National Leadership Meeting to be held in San Antonio, Texas July 6-12.
Also placing at the State Competition were: Addyson Schroeder, receiving fifth in Career Investigation; Meg Jahns and Julia Lane, placing third in Chapter In Review Display; and Jakayla DaBera and Marshika Johnson, taking fifth place in Illustrated Talk.
Local FCCLA advisors that attended the meeting were Linda Thaler, Jennifer Siemsglusz and Yvonne Tomlinson. Jennifer Lane was in attendance as well.
Kate Wellmann presided over the four-day meeting as State President. She received the $18,000 FCCLA Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship as well.
The theme of the meeting was “FCCLA: A World of Opportunities.”Members attended seminars such as “Distracted Driving”, “Student Body” and “Dress For Success”.
Brenham FCCLA was one of the recipients for the 2014 Outstanding FCCLA Chapter. Sam Bell, Steve Skrla, Michael and Michelle Wellmann and Ron Eilers all received honorary FCCLA membership at the second general session on Friday, April 11.
