A Bryan man has been sentenced to 85 years in prison after he was convicted for the sexual assault of a woman outside a Northeast Austin recreation center in 2012.

In arguing for a life sentence for Troy Williams, prosecutors called him a dangerous manipulator who had previously sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl and would offend again should he be given light punishment.

Williams’ lawyer asked for a lighter sentence, claiming his client was a boy at the time of the incidents and would mature.

Attorney Alex Calhoun, said Williams had the brain development of an adolescent and had not done well while undergoing sex offender treatment in juvenile detention after the first assault.

Williams is a 21-year-old registered sex offender, who was convicted Wednesday of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. He had been facing five years to life in prison.

A Travis County jury deliberated more than three hours Friday before recommending the punishment. Williams will be eligible for parole after 30 years.
