BRYAN PRISON CAMP EMPLOYEE SUSPENDED

An employee of the Bryan Federal Prison Camp has been temporarily suspended after he allegedly had sexual relations with three inmates.

A disciplinary panel of the Texas Physician Assistant Board has temporarily suspended William Levi Cooper’s license.

Cooper worked in Public HealthService at the prison, and was suspended without notice after the panel met Wednesday. The suspension is effective immediately.

The board found that Cooper had sexual relations with three inmates while they were his patients.

Those three patients confirmed the accusations.

Cooper’s license will remain suspended until the disciplinary board takes further action.

The Texas Medical Board says a hearing will be held “as soon as practicable” with 10 days’ notice for Cooper to prepare a defense.

Bryan’s Federal Prison Camp is a minimum-security federal prison camp off Ursuline Avenue in Bryan. It currently has 903 inmates and houses only female offenders
