BUC MEN FALL AT SAN JAC

San Jacinto runs keep Buccaneers at bay

PASADENA, Texas – The Blinn men’s basketball team was able to control the game with its offense in spurts here Wednesday night, but the San Jacinto Ravens took the game.

San Jacinto, behind a late run in the second half, bested the Buccaneers 90-78 in Region XIV action.

“I was pleased that we were able to play to our tempo offensively, but San Jacinto got loose and hit some threes to pull away,” Blinn (13-9, 4-8) coach Scott Schumacher said.

The Ravens used a late run to take a 10-point lead at halftime, 42-32, after the Bucs had cut their lead to one point. In the second half, after Blinn made it an eight-point game with 5:39 to play, San Jacinto sparked another rally to pull away.

Sophomore Macari Brooks scored 24 points, and Cornell Barnett and Jalan McCloud each scored 12.

The Bucs return to the Blinn P.E. Building on Saturday for a 4 p.m. game against Coastal Bend.
