BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO DISCUSS BONDS PROGRAM

The Burton School Board will discuss a program that could help with facility improvements, when they meet tonight.

The board is expected to consider a resolution to retain professional assistance with the Qualified Zone Academy Bonds program.

The program allows lending institutions and schools to form a partnership to support education.

The Burton school district is looking at using the QZAB bonds to fund facility improvements.

District officials expect to be eligible for funding of up to $900,000 and an interest rate of less than 1 percent.

Also at tonight’s meeting, trustees will discuss changing the dates of the 2015 spring break for students.

Trustees will discuss moving spring break back a week next year — from March 9-13 to March 16-20.

The board is also expected to consider an offer for the old elementary school property.

The board meets tonight (Monday) at 6:30 p.m. in the administrative offices, 701 N. Railroad St.
