CARDS TRIP UP BUCS

The Blinn College football team put up 15 fourth-quarter points Saturday, but the Trinity Valley Cardinals’ powerful offense proved too much.

The Buccaneers fell to the Cardinals 34-18 at Cub Stadium.

Blinn’s offense found its life in the fourth quarter after struggling the first three. Wide receiver Darrion Landry helped spurn the Cardinals defense through the air as he caught five passes for 123 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 39-yard strike from quarterback Garry Kimble in the fourth quarter.

Kimble was 10-of-22 passing for 207 yards and a touchdown, while adding another 78 yards on the ground.

Trinity Valley took a 14-0 lead before Kade Robinson booted a 32-yard field goal to put the Bucs on the scoreboard in the second quarter. Sophomore running back Klartel Claridy found the end zone on an 8-yard run in the fourth to make it a 27-11 game.

Blinn put up 487 yards of total offense to Trinity Valley’s 436, but the Cardinals were able to take advantage of three Blinn turnovers, which they converted to 14 points. Trinity Valley boasts the No. 1-ranked offense in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC).

The Bucs return to Cub Stadium Saturday for a 3 p.m. Homecoming game against Navarro.
