CELEBRATIONS ALL OVER FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY THIS WEEK

What a glorious week is in store for us!  Of course, the birth of a nation that became the world’s greatest super power, while guaranteeing personal freedom is cause for parades, dances, music, great food and certainly fireworks.

All this is in store for Brenham, Chappell Hill, Somerville,  Round Top and the rest of the Brazos Valley as we celebrate the Fourth of July this Friday.

Nobody has been doing this longer, at least west of the Mississippi, than the small community of Round Top.

They are planning the 164th Fourth of July Celebration with a parade begun with the firing of a Civil War cannon, followed by shopping and food. The Round Top Rifle Association is planning a brisket, pork, and sausage barbecue.  Then there are games for the children and many more attractions.

A more recent celebration began 15 years ago at the Washington On the Brazos State Park with the annual Fireworks on the Fourth Celebration.  Ginger Moreland of the Park says they will have the attractions  everyone has come to expect, including period games, frozen treats from Blue Bell Creamerie and music from the amphitheater with Josh Ward.  Moreland says people need to move out towards the Barrington Living History Museum to view the spectacular fireworks display, sponsored by HEB, just as soon as it is dark enough.

The skies will be lit up with fireworks in several areas of the Brazos Valley.
