CITIZEN’S POLICE ACADEMY

The Brenham Police Department is looking for a few good men and women.

The next class of the Brenham Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy will begin Jan. 23rd, and a limited number of spaces are still available.

Cpl. Chris Jackson, the department’s community relations officer, says “The CPA is one of the programs the police department utilizes to build a partnership between the department and the community.

Officers from the department provide the instruction, with topics covering patrol procedures, criminal investigations, SWAT and hostage negotiation, building searches, traffic stops, narcotics and gang enforcement, and DWI enforcement.

Jackson says the department uses tours, lectures, demonstrations and ‘hands-on’ experiences so the class participants can gain insight into the policies and procedures of the department.

The 12-week long classes are held at the Brenham Police Department and are open, free of charge, to anyone who lives in Washington County and is at least 17 years of age.
