CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS LANDFILL PROPERTY, THURSDAY

The Brenham City Council is expected to discuss an offer for property which the city once planned to use as a landfill.

The council will address the offer in an executive session during their meeting Thursday afternoon at City Hall.

City Manager Terry Roberts says they’ve received an offer for the 204-acre tract of land between Brenham and Chappell Hill.

The land has been on the market numerous times since plans for the landfill were abandoned.

Roberts says the council needs to review the offer and determine if it’s credible and what route the council wants to go.

Also at Thursday’s meeting the council is expected to vote on the second reading of an ordinance to annex nearly 400 acres of land into the city limits.

The council will also discuss a request from Blue Bell Creameries to install a 10,000-gallon above-ground diesel storage tank.

The Brenham City Council meets at 1:00 Thursday afternoon at the City Hall on West Vulcan.
