CLOSED BAE PLANT COULD MAKE AMMUNITION

Jeremy Alcede, the owner of Tactical Firearms in Katy has announced plans to transform the BAE defense plant in Sealy into an ammunition plant. Alcede said the BAE plant was his first choice but some hurdles need to be cleared.
The firearms manufacturer needs to work with BAE officials about these plans. He will need about $25 million to make these plans work and his company is having ‘financial issues.’
Alcede says he wants to bring jobs back to Sealy, after the Defense Department gave the BAE contract to build military vehicles to an operation in Oskhosh, Wisconsin.
Sealy City Manager Chris Coffman said that had met with Alcede earlier but the discussion did not include a discussion about BAE and Tactical Firearms.
Tactical Firearms is a store and shooting range that offers training firearms and accessories. It also offer a large selection of ammunition.
Alcede hopes to have a deal signed in the next few months, but it would be another 10 to 12 months before the first ammunition would be made.
