CONVICTED BRYAN BANK ROBBER RECEIVES 60 YEARS

A man convicted for robbing Commerce National Bank in Bryan last summer was sentenced to prison yesterday (Wednesday) in Bryan.

A Brazos County jury sentenced 43 year old Bryan Champion of Houston to 60 years in prison for the July 30th 2013 armed robbery of Commerce National Bank.  Champion had earlier plead guilty to first degree aggravated robbery and could have been given life in prison.  He will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 30 years of his sentence.

Charges are still pending against another man believed to be his accomplice in the bank robbery, 28 year old Erric Bernard Portis of Calvert.
