COOL DAMP WEATHER MEANS MORE WATER AT LAKE SOMERVILLE

Several days of cool, damp weather, with modest rainfalls has benefitted the water levels at Lake Somerville but reservoir manager Emmitt Attaway says the lake is still well under its capacity, at 234feet above sea level.

Attaway says the lake water levels have been low for most of the year and he continues to look for substantial rainfalls over the lake’s watershed over the Giddings area.  He says the cool temperatures have given him some encouragement because the evaporation levels are down.

Attaway notes that many still come to the lake for the Thanksgiving holiday mostly for boating and fishing.  He says it is important to be extra careful because if anyone falls into the water they could quickly suffer from hydrothermia.  Attaway continues to say the low water levels continue to present hazards to boaters.
