COUNTERFEITING CONCERNS IN AUSTIN COUNTY

Counterfeit money is becoming a problem in Austin County and County Judge Carolyn Bilski says its time to get more information.  She says the tax office has received some counterfeit bills along with some businesses..

When the Austin County Commissioners meet Monday they will be discussing the bad bills and what to do about them with the sheriff and law enforcement.

Judge Bilski said she wished all businesses could be conducted with debit cards and checks, because it is too easy for ‘the crooks’ to make use of cash.

This discussion is only of many items dealing with law enforcement in Austin County.  Judge Bilski says Sheriff Jack Brandes needs to upgrade his computer system, complete with IPads to keep up to date on the latest Microsoft technology.

The Austin County Commissioners will meet Monday morning at nine at the courthouse in Bellville.
