COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE GOVERNMENT SURPLUS PLAN

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak says the county will probably never need an Apache helicopter or a Mine Resistant Personnel Carrier, but the county will need other types of weapons, along with desk and chairs.

Hanak was urging the Washington County Commissioners  to  participate in a government surplus programat today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting that there are numerous items his office can receive that would be helpful to the county but the sheriff would have to give them a good look.  County Judge John Brieden said an MRAP would never be a county priority.

County Commissioners
The Washington County Commissioners approved a government surplus plan.

The County Commissioners approved the Sheriff’s office participation in the Texas 1033 Surplus Program.

The County Commissioners also agreed to a complaint procedure to be put in place for anyone who has concerns or complaints about a proposed sewer line project in the Alois Lane area.  The county is receiving a $277,000 grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture to connect the Alois Lane with sewer lines because that area cannot accept any more septic tanks.  The procedure needs to be in place in order the county to receive the federal funding portion of the grant./
