COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE “WATER” RESOLUTION

Washington County Commissioners have approved a resolution opposing a move being proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The resolution expresses the commissioners’ strong opposition to the EPA’s new definition of “waters of the United States.”

County Judge John Brieden says the current definition of “U.S. waters” has been broadly redefined…

Brieden says this new set of federal rules would drastically broaden the EPA’s powers.  He called the move a “blatant power grab”…

Brieden says he sent letters to U.S. Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, stating his opposition.

Commissioners also approved their final priority project list for the Texas Department of Transportation’s infrastructure fund program.

The rest of the meeting was most routine items.
