COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ESTABLISH CERTZ

The Washington County Commissioners established a County Energy Reinvestment Transportation Zone at today’s (Tuesday’) meeting, that should help the county be reimbursed for the road damage done to county roads by oil and gas drilling equipment.

The County Commissioners needed to establish the CERTZ in order to file for a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Precinct Four County Commissioner Joy Fuchs said the money is needed, especially in her precinct.

Precinct One County Commissioner Zeb Heckman noted that the salt water running over the county roads during the drilling process also causes damage.

Washington County Judge John Brieden had stated earlier that the county could a grant of $283,000 to make these road repairs.
