COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OPEN OIL BID FOR TOM GREEN COUNTY LAND

Pat Fairchild of Fairchild Petroleum was the sole bidder for an oil and gas lease on land Washington County owns in Tom Green County near San Angelo.  That bid was opened at today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting of the Washington County Commissioners.

Fairchild Petroleum has held the lease for some time and wanted to renew it. They want to look for oil and gas on 698 acres of the county owned land.

The lease would be for 30 months, with the county getting a 20 percent royalty.

Washington County Judge John Brieden said they will now have to let the county attorney look at the bid to make sure it is completely valid.  Judge Breiden does not see any problems in the bid but there is still work to be done on it.

Washington County owns thousands of acres in Tom Green County.  It is leased for various purposes including oil and gas exploration and production and the proceeds benefit the Brenham and Burton school districts.

This bid is for a very small portion of the county’s land.
