COUNTY COMMISSIONERS RECOGNIZE 4-H PROGRAMS

At this (Tuesday) morning’s meeting, Washington County Commissioners voted to amend the County’s budget to fund the new Emergency Communications and IT departments.  Those departments will be funded though County reserve funds till the end of this year, when the 2015 budget will begin.  County Judge John Brieden pointed out that this was necessary because when this year’s budget was approved, the inter-local agreement for the County taking over Emergency Communications had not been completed.

In other action, the Commissioners approved a ½ ton pickup for EMS to be purchased through a state contract vendor.  EMS Director Kevin Deramus pointed out that this item was on next year’s budget, but they have to place the order now for the truck to be delivered and equipped by January of next year.  Commissioners also approved several routine items.   They certified funds granted to the Washington County Healthy Living Association so it could receive funding from the Texas Department of Agriculture Home-Delivered Grant Program.  They also approved the agreement with the Brazos Valley Council of Government’s Transportation Program for the continued service of the seniors van next year.

Commissioners also took time this morning to acknowledge the hard work of those involved in the 4-H programs here in the county and signed a proclamation designating October 5th through the 11th as National 4-H week in Washington County.
