COUNTY TREASURER AND AUDITOR RECEIVE AWARD

Washington County Treasurer, Peggy Kramer and County Auditor Sharon Stolz have been recognized with the 2014 Platinum Leadership Circle Award for financial transparency from the Texas Comptroller’s Office.  At this morning’s meeting of the Washington County Commissioners, County Judge John Brieden pointed out how this was a high honor for those offices.

Judge Brieden noted that this year the county meets 20 of the 22 metrics, earning them the platinum award.

In other action, the commissioners voted to approve the 6.7 percent increase in the County’s group medical insurance rate for the next one year period.  The county will be staying on their grandfathered plan administered by the Texas Association of Counties.  The court is planning on forming a committee to look into options in group medical coverage after the budget hearings are completed.

The commissioners also voted to authorize a “No Thru Trucks” sign to be placed at both entrances to the Bluebonnet Hills Subdivision.  It was noted that trucks intending to make deliveries to Blue Bell Creameries are often misguided by their GPS units to Blue Bell Lane inside the neighborhood, where they have a difficult time turning around.
