CUBETTE VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS SEASON OPENER

The Brenham Cubette Volleyball team opened the 2014 season in fine fashion, sweeping Brazos Consolidated in Wallis, 3-0.

The Cubettes and Lady Cougars battled in the opening game, with Brenham pulling out a 26-to-24 win.

The Cubettes completed the sweep, taking games two and three by scores of 25-16 and 25-14.

Junior Hadley Webb had 15 kills and served six aces, while Kenna Mikolajczak added six kills and seven digs.

Jordan Wellman led the defense with 17 digs.  Kelly Jurden had 15 assists and five service aces, while Kaci Pecht dished out 13 assists.

The Cubettes continue their opening week Thursday, as they open play in the Columbus Volleyball Classic.

Thursday the Cubettes will face: Freer at 3:00; St. Joseph’s at 5:00; and Yoakum at 7:00.

The tournament continues Friday and Saturday.
