CUBETTES PICK UP SECOND-STRAIGHT DISTRICT WIN

 

The Brenham Cubettes made it back-to-back district wins Monday, as they defeated the Rudder Lady Rangers, 6-2 at Alumni Field.

The Cubettes (9-7/2-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on rbi’s by Reagan Kwiatkowski, Autumn Pauler and Ashley Hodde.

 

Rudder cut into the Cubette lead with three straight two-out singles.

 

The score remained 3-1 through the next four innings as Cubette pitcher Megan Morris and Rudder reliever Rebecca DelGado hooked up in pitchers duel.

 

The Lady Rangers plated an unearned run in the sixth to cut the lead to 3-2, but Morris stranded the tying run at second with a groundball out.

Brenham added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth with three runs.  Madison Hooks’ single scored Brette Kohring and Morris.  Macie Becker’s goundball out scored Kellie Jurden to make the final 6-2.

 

Morris (4-3) gave up just one earned run on six hits over seven innings, while striking out four batters and not walking a hitter.

 

Elsewhere in 18/4A play Monday, Willis shocked Montgomery, 5-4.  It is Montgomery's first district loss of the season.  Magnolia West ripped Huntsville, 10-2.

 

 

The Cubettes now get ready for Magnolia, Wednesday night at 7:00 at Alumni Field at 7:00.
