CUBETTS ADVANCE TO PLAYOFFS WITH WIN

The Brenham Cubettes volleyball team has survived to play another day.

The Cubettes (21-19) came back from a tough loss in the opening set to defeat the Willis Lady Wildkats, 3-to-1, Friday night in a District Playoff game at Magnolia West.

The Cubettes and Lady Kats finished 18/4A play tied for the fourth and final playoff berth with 10-6 records.

Willis (17-12) got off to the early lead, with a hard-fought 28-26 win but the Cubettes rebounded to take the next three sets, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18.

Ashley Homan helped lead the Cubette attack with 21 kills and eight digs, while Kenna Mikolazcjak had 16 kills and 12 digs.

Hadley Webb led the defense with 21 digs, while AuDresha Spates blocked four shots and Alli Crowson blocked three.

Kaci Pect dished out 31 assists and Jordan Wellmann had 22.

The Cubettes advance on to the Region III/4A Bi-district round of the UIL Playoffs.  They’ll face District 17/4A Champion Georgetown at 7:30 Tuesday night at Bryan High School.
