Ryan Newman’s single in the fourth drove in Matt Zettle, who was running for McElreath.
The Cubs’ final run came in the fifth when Braden Baird (pinch running for Richard) scored on a wild pitch.
McElreath led the Cubs’ offense with three hits in four at bats. Hoffman, Brewton and Richard added two hits each.
