DPS IS ON PATROL FOR CHRISTMAS

Christmas week has begun and many Texas motorists have already begun their holiday trips.  The American Automobile Association believes over 4 million Texas drivers will be making extended trips to see friends and family this week.

The drivers need to be careful.  This week is no holiday for the Texas Department of Public Safety.   Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort, or C.A.R.E., begins tonight at midnight.  It means every available trooper will be out patrolling the state’s highways with orders to strictly enforce all traffic laws.  There is a special emphasis on driving while intoxicated, seat belt and speeding violations.  There will be no tolerance on these offenses. All of the law enforcement agencies in the state, including the Washington County Sheriff’s office and the Brenham police department will be helping the DPS in this effort.
