DRUNKEN FIGHT WITH POLICE LEADS TO CONVICTION
A Saturday afternoon of drinking and driving, fighting and a hit and run, ending with hitting a police officer has led to a five year probated sentence for a 33-year old Brenham woman in this week’s session of the 21st district court.
District Court Judge Carson Campbell sentenced Glenyse Sean Pack to five years probation after her guilty plea for assaulting a public servant that happened during the afternoon hours of July 21st. The judge also ordered her to pay a $500 fine, court costs, a $50 crime stoppers fee. She still has some jail time to serve. Judge Campbell ordered her to spend 101 days in the Washington County Jail. She must also perform 200 hours of community service.
Police reports say Pack got into a fight with her front seat passenger while driving at the intersection of South Austin and West Alamo. She was so distracted she hit three cars. Pack finally stopped at her residence in the 1900 block of Northview Circle. Sgt. Kelvin Raven and Officers Casey Thuemann and Hunter Andreas saw her go into her home and continued the argument with her passenger. Pack answered the door when police knocked. She failed a field sobriety test but when they tried to arrest her she began fighting them.
Forty-two year old John Thomas Tubbs of Brenham was sentenced to three years in prison after his guilty plea of assault family violence and impeding breathing. This incident happened on April 13th. Assistant District Attorney Eric Berg saysTubbs had a long history of mostly petty crimes, but that night at the Knights Inn Hotel in Brenham he assaulted his female companion in a terrible way, threatening her and injuring her badly.
A 30-year old Bryan woman was sentenced to four years deferred adjudication for what is normally a misdemeanor theft of less than $1500. Shameka Flowers however, had two previous convictions. She was arrested for shoplifting on June 10TH. Assistant District Attorney Eric Berg says Flowers has had several convictions for petty thefts. Berg said in this case a theft of $58 worth of items from the Brenham Wal-Mart led to an expensive sentence. Judge Campbell also ordered her to pay a $1500 fine, and perform 160 hours of community service.
Forty-three year old Roy Melvin Jackson Jr., of Chappell Hill was sentenced to two years probation for a building burglary he committed in May. He must also perform 150 hours of community service.
Forty-two year old Franklin Jay Tanner of Brenham was sentenced to three years deferred adjudication for being caught with a small amount of cocaine in July of last year. He must also pay a $1500 fine, perform 150 hours of community service, enroll in an inpatient treatment center within 30 days and provide a DNA sample.
The other assault cases in this week’s court session were misdemeanors. Twenty-year old Keyonni Rogers of Old Washington was sentenced to 30 days in the Washington County Jail for a misdemeanor assault committed in August of 2011.
Sixty-one year Monte Louis Marshall of Brenham was sentenced to 12 days for assault causing bodily injury—family violence for a incident on Christmas Eve last year.
