It was a big day in particular for students on two campuses: the all new Alton Elementary School and the extensively renovated Brenham Middle School.

Bell says those two campuses had a great opening day…

More of Sam Bell’s comments can be heard on the premier of this year’s edition of the BISD Roundup.

The show has moved to Thursday mornings at 9:05 on KWHI.

  1. Just curious to know if the new principle at the junior high or anyone from the school administration are going to offer a comment on the effects their new traffic policies are having on our town? The traffic was still backed up this morning also.

  2. Traffic on Chappell Hill street between Carlee and Neibuhr has been a nightmare.

  3. Bill is right. It took me 10 minutes just to get past the Junior High the first two days of school trying to get to the middle school. On the third day I tried going a different way and ended up waiting forever for a break in buses and traffic coming from 577.

  4. The classes may have been smooth, but the massive traffic jams caused by the restrictive new policies at the junior high have turned Chappell Hill Street into a parking lot. If I lived on that street I would be complaining loudly. As it is, I am finding that no matter how early I go, takes 15-20 minutes to drop my child off at the junior high. I get the intent by the new drop off policy, but from my perspective it is working poorly. Please consider opening the Tom Green drop off point to parents also, this will help solve some of the congestion issues.
