GARY GATES LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR TEXAS SENATE
Glenn Hegar’s Senate seat is not even open yet, but a Richmond businessman has announced plans to run for it.
Gary Gates has launched a campaign to become the next State Senator for District 18, which includes Washington County. Hegar, who has served in the Texas Senate since 2006, is a heavy favorite as a Republican to win the State Comptroller job in November. Gates lost a race to Hegar in 2006 for the District 18 Senate position. He has remained active in the GOP, serving as a delegate for the State Party Convention since 2002. Gates owns Gatesco, a real estate investment company in the Texas Gulf Coast region.
Brenham’s State Representative, Lois Kolkhorst, has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Hegar’s Senate seat, should he be elected State Comptroller in November.
