GRBA MURDER TRIAL DELAYED

The murder trial for 20-year old Broderick Grba has been delayed to April 22nd

Grba was supposed to have gone on trial on Tuesday, November 12th in the January 6th shooting death of Marcus Carroll at the Cotton Village Apartments in Snook.

District Court Judge Harold Towslee  reset the trial date at the request of the defense because lab results are still pending and additional discovery is needed.   Assistant District Attorney Joan Scroggins agreed to the trial’s delay.

Grba rejected a plea bargain in July.

District Attorney Julie Renken had said previously that Grba is facing three stacked life sentences, considering other charges before him. Those charges include an aggravated robbery of a convenience store near Snook and a pending burglary of a habitation charge.

Grbe, who is being held under a $1 million bond, is charged with shooting Carroll in the pre-dawn hours of January 6th during a dispute involving four men.  Carroll, of College Station was pronounced dead at the scene of the apartment complex parking lot.  Twenty-four year old Anthony Allen of Caldwell was also arrested for the shooting after he was questioned.

An investigation by the Burleson County Sheriff’s office found there was a fued between Carroll and Allen over drugs and money.  The statement said Allen asked Grba to help him in dealing with Carroll, when a .380 handgun and two and a half pounds of marijuana were stolen from Carroll a few weeks earlier.

A witness saw a verbal altercation in the parking lot involving Carroll, Allen and another man.  Grba then appeared out of nowhere, according to the investigation, and began shooting a handgun.  A 9mm handgun was found next to Carroll’s body.
