HIGHWAY 36 OVERPASS PROJECT EXPECTED TO GET BACK ON TRACK

The Texas Department of Transportation says work should resume next week on the 3.6-million dollar Highway 36 overpass project.

Commuters in the area have been curious as to the lack of progress in the project recently, noting that there has been little work accomplished—especially lately.

Bob Colwell, Public Information Officer for the TxDOT regional office in Bryan says there were delays due to “plan issues”, but those issues have apparently been resolved…

 

The major rehabilitation project calls for the installation of a traffic signal at Business 36 and Highway 36 to be followed by the demolition of the overpass where the Highway leads north out of Brenham.

The over pass will be replaced by a ‘T’ intersection.

Colwell says the recent delays shouldn’t put the project too far behind…

 

The project is still expected to be completed by next year.

  2. For Whatever It’s Worth:
    Something to allow the traffic coming out of town to make a legal, protected left turn. I’m no engineer by any stretch, but maybe the exit off 577 to 36 inbound be a two way for a short distance with a light? Or maybe right exit 36N outbound and use the existing underpass for a merge in to blend on heading back toward 290?

  3. THIS IS A TOTAL WASTE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS, AND TEARING DOWN THE OVERPASS IS THE STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD OF. THE PEOPLE MAKING UTURNS THERE ARE THE REASON ALL OTHERS HAVE TO SUFFER.
