KATHY BELL LEAVES POSITION AS CHIEF LIBRARIAN AT NANCY CAROL ROBERTS

Brenham City Manager Terry Roberts confirmed today(Thursday) that Kathy Bell  is no longer the Chief Librarian of the Nancy Carol Roberts Library.

Roberts said that Ms Bell left her position in early October after the city administration informed her they ‘wanted to take the library in a different direction.’   The City Manager did not ‘want to get into the details’ of Bell’s departure from the city.Roberts says for now, city administrators Wendy Regonis and Kaci Konieczny are managing the library on an interim basis while the city looks for a new chief librarian.  He said that Kathy Carter, a retired municipal librarian from La Grange is also helping with the library.

Bell’s tenure as Chief Librarian was relatively short.  She began her duties in July of 2012, taking over from Charles Seesmuth.

  1. I read this article with great interest as “to take the library in a different direction” was the reason given to me also (good legalese). I wonder what this direction is, if anyone knows. I was told that there were 4 issues a self-appointed select few were concerned with and took to City Hall re my performance.. What these few didn’t know, or care about, was the fact that these issues were out of my control. Within hours of “getting pushed out”, I found out just what had happened. Just six weeks before I was pushed out,, I had been told by two supervisors that I was going a good job. I loved that library and my job and gave it my best shot with what I had to work with. On my departing day, I was told, “You are not being fired or terminated. I don’t know what you call it.” I call it small town politics, exactly what I had been warned about. Oh well, as the world turns…..
