The Lady Panthers finished the 2013 season with an impressive 30-6 mark that saw them return to the Region Championship game once again, before their run ended at the hands of arch-rival and eventual State Champion Round Top-Carmine.

Burton began workouts Monday morning on their 2014 team, which features a number of returning starters and key performers.

Lady Panther head coach Katie Cloud says the team has worked hard these first few days of practices…

Cloud says the team will be spending the first several weeks of the season working on the “basics”…

While the Lady Panthers lost key senior leaders in Katie Kieke and Kelsey Harmel to graduation, they return five players that were key contributors in 2013: Seniors Haley Nutt and Emma Broesche; and sophomores Kyeanna Kincade, Blaire Smith and Alli Rosenbaum.

Burton’s first scrimmage is set for Friday at Iola.

The Lady Panthers will open the season Tuesday night at Lexington.

The district opener is Friday night, September 12 at home to Round Top-Carmine.
