LOCAL HIGHWAYS SAFE OVER THE FOURTH

It was a safe and quiet holiday weekend, along the highways around the Brazos Valley.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports no fatal or serious accidents on the highways in Washington and surrounding counties over the three-day Fourth of July weekend.

State-wide millions of Texans hit the highways—and the DPS was ready with all available troopers out in full force.

The DPS once again initiated Operation C.A.R.E. or Combined Accident Reduction Effort, with every available law enforcement officer out on patrol, strictly enforcing all traffic laws, with a special emphasis on seat belt violators, speeders, and as always drunk drivers.

  1. I witnessed an roll over accident on my way to the lake about 5 mile out of Brenham on highway 36 North around 3:00pm on the 4th. It wasn’t reported here but your story reads NO fatalities or serious accidents & I’m glad to know that because it was horrific to watch that poor lady flip her SUV right infront of me due to a flat/blowout! I even have pictures!
