MAIFEST OPENS OFFICIALLY

  

With Maypole dancers, sausage, beer, and good old fashion German style music, the 124th Maifest officially opened last (Wednesday) night at Fireman’s Park.

The Maifest Junior and Senior Royalty helped open the 124th Brenham Maifest Wednesday night.  The Junior King is Jackson Edward Van Dyke, the Junior Queen is Piper McCall Puckett.  The Senior King is Caleb Scott Rodenbeck and Senior Queen is Caroline Rosemary Webb.

A crowd of hundreds watched as the junior and senior Maifest Royalty and their families cut the ribbon, beginning the annual celebration of Brenham’s German heritage.

The Senior Royalty will reign over the Court of Celebrations Across Texas, something that Senior Queen Caroline Rosemary Webb is very excited about.

Ms. Webb is a senior at Brenham High School and is still thinking about what college she will go to after she graduates.

Senior King Caleb Rodenbeck is also very excited about the court he will reign over on Saturday night, during the coronation at Fireman’s Park.

Rodenbeck is a senior at Brenham High School who is going to student Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech next year.  In honor of that the masked Red Raider will be on horseback during Saturday’s parade.

The Junior Court of Jackson Edward Van Dyke and Piper McCall Puckett will reign over the Court of Maifest Mysteries on Friday night.

The festivities continued early today (Thursday).  Blue Bell Creameries introduced their new flavor in the pre-dawn hours.  The of new flavor ua  ‘Maifest Crunch.’   The Brenham High School Cub Band came out to salute the new flavor that will be served during the All You Can Eat Ice Cream Smorgasbord Saturday at the Maifestival Grounds at Fireman’s Park.
