MOLD CLEANUP PART OF CALDWELL SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ISSUE

Caldwell school district voters are going to the polls May 10th to decide on a $5.7 million bond package.  The district’s elementary school has had a mold problem and, the eradication program is part of the bond issue.

The precise total cost is still being calculated and is not yet available.  School Board members hope the number will be known prior to the elections.

School officials have identified three repair issues—significant mold under the slab, moisture through the concrete under the carpet and the need for ventilation  under the building.

Teachers and students have relocated to several Caldwell churches until the problems are solved.  Staff members and students had complained of rashes, sinus infections and headaches.

Once the mold remediation cost is known, the board plans to use the remainder of the funds for other projects.  That means they must eliminate some of the projects originally considered before the mold issue emerged.
