NEW LCRA DIRECTOR

The Lower Colorado River Authority Board of Directors unanimously voted to hire Texas Department of Transportation Executive Director Phil Wilson Wednesday.   Wilson will become the authority’s 11th general manager on February first.

Wilson replaces Rebecca S. Motal, who announced in September she is retiring as of December 31st

Wilson will come to the LCRA from TxDot, where he has served as executive director since October of 2011.  At TxDot, Wilson oversaw 12,000 employees and a $10 billion budget.  Prior to that, Wilson worked as senior vice president of public affairs for Luminant, Texas’ largest competitive power generation company.  In 2007 Gov. Rick Perry appointed Wilson as Secretary of State.  He also served as chair of the Governor’s Competivness Council and as a member of the Texas Border Security Council.

As LCRA’s general manager and chief executive officer, Wilson will carry out LCRA Board policies.

Wilson will also oversee construction of a new off-channel reservoir in Wharton County, LCRA’s first new water supply reservoir in decades.

The Lower Colorado River Authority is a major water and electricity supplier for Texas.   The city of Brenham gets its electric power from the LCRA
