NYMAN CHARGED WITH AUTO THEFT IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

  

The suspect  caught in a day long manhunt earlier this week has now been charged with stealing a SUV in Washington County. 

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak says 20-year old Adam David Nyman of Somerville has confessed to stealing a 2008 Limited Edition Ford Expedition on December 29th

Nyman was captured late Monday afternoon after a trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety spotted him in Washington County.  He then eluded law enforcement officers in an extensive search until he was caught in Burleson County.

Nyman was wanted on theft warrants in Alabama but local law enforcement officers believed he may behind several crimes in the local area.

Hanak says Nyman confessed to stealing the SUV after being questioned by Sgt. Investigator Clay Bosse and Burleson County Criminal Investigator Gene Hermes.  Nyman confessed to his role in the theft from a residence in the 200 block of Christmas Road.  Nyman is now charged with the Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and is being held under a $25,000 bond.

Sheriff’s office reports  that the woman who owns the SUV saw it being stolen from her residence.  She saw him drive away towards Highway 36 north but lost contact.  All surrounding law enforcement agencies including the Washington County Sheriff’s office, the Burleson County Sheriff’s office,  the DPS, Somerville and Brenham police were alerted and took part in the search.
