OAK HILL WATER OUTAGE AND BOIL WATER NOTICE

Water Outage & Boil Water Notice

"Effective immediately, the Oak Hill Fresh Water Supply District 1 Water System is experiencing a water well failure resulting in a water outage (July 15, 2014) throughout the water system.    Please conserve water for household use only until further notice. We continue to work toward restoring your water.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE is in effect until further notice for the Oak Hill Fresh Water Supply District 1 Water System. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure the destruction of harmful bacterial and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify you through this same media."

Mike Conway, General Manager of PGMS management services, says the water outage was caused by crack that developed in the water pump’s casing.  That allowed water to seep into the motor and fried a wire causing a burnt out motor.

Conway says another motor is on its way to Oak Hill Acres and the resumption of water service depends on how quickly the motor arrives and how quickly it can be installed.  Conway says if all goes according to plan, the water could be back on by Tuesday evening.  Customers will have to boil their water until the order is lifted.

The Oak Hill Fresh Water Supply District serves Oak Hill Acres, a subdivision located about three miles north of Brenham, which includes approximately 150 homes.
