Horns 247 staff writer Colt Barber says Brown made his commitment following the "Under the Lights" camp on Friday evening, saying Brown decided that Texas was the place for him because of the coaching staff and their recent success on the defensive side of the ball. Texas is recruiting brown as a defensive end.

Brown reportedly told Barber that the (Texas) coaches can, “…teach me football so I can get to the next level.”  He went on to say that Coach Charlie Strong is one of the best defensive coaches in the nation and at the camp they taught him more about playing defensive end in one day than he’d ever learned.

The website Scout.com also confirmed that Brown has committed to the ‘Horns.

Brown is the No. 149-ranked prospect nationally and No. 15-ranked prospect in Texas according to 247Sports. Brown has also had offers from Baylor, Oregon, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

Brown is commitment No. 12 for the Longhorns in the 2015 class and the second athlete to commit along with Kirk Johnson.
