POLICE INVESTIGATING RASH OF BURGLARIES WITHIN BLOCKS

Brenham Police are investigating a quartet of burglaries—all within blocks of each other.

Authorities were called out to the burglaries all in the area just south of Blue Bell Road, across from Blue Bell Creameries.

Sgt. Jason Derrick responded to the 1300 block of Loesch in reference to a residential alarm sounding, just after 11:30 Tuesday morning.

When Derrick arrived, Cpl. David Dudenhoeffer advised him the back door glass had been shattered but he was unable to determine if anyone had entered due to a set of burglar bars and the gate of the patio being locked. The homeowner arrived and checked the residence and confirmed nothing was missing and apparently no one had made entry.

Then, just after 12:00 noon, Cpl. Justin Schiller was called to the 800 block of Bormann, where the caller said that around 10:40 a.m. he drove by his house and saw a dark colored passenger car in his driveway. As he pulled up to the house, the car drove off and he returned to work.

At 11:50 he returned home and discovered someone had entered his home though his backdoor.  Several items of jewelry valued at $2,200 were missing.

As Schiller was investigating that burglary, he was notified by Dispatch of another home on the same street. He and Cpl. Dudenhoeffer found the back door had been pushed open. The home appeared to be vacant, but there was some furniture in the home and authorities say it appeared some jewelry had been taken.  No owner has been located.

Then, just before 1:00, Cpl. David Dudenhoeffer responded to the 1500 block of Leslie D Lane in reference to a burglary.

The caller said she had arrived home from work at approximately 12:50 p.m. and noticed the refrigerator and cabinets opened. She said her husband had been home until 9 a.m. and everything was fine when he left. Dudenhoeffer said it appears entry to the home was made through a window in the living room that had been broken and then opened. Several items of jewelry were taken; no estimated cost given.
