POLICE SEIZE DRUGS AND OVER $8300 IN CASH

Brenham police seized drugs and over $8300 in cash while arresting a 31-year old man Saturday night during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of highway 105.

Officers saw a vehicle driving near A.J. Tire Shop on highway 105.  They followed because of a defective brake light.  He turned on to Chappell Hill Street snd then on to Scott Street before he finally stopped.

Several police officers including Detective Todd Ashorn, Cpl. Curtiss Schoen, Cpl Seth Klem, and officers Ashley Burns and Stephen Eilert all came to the scene because they believe the driver was acting suspiciously.

The officers said the driver, 31-year old Benjamin Zebediah Molina began to walk away from the car.  That prompted the officers  to search the vehicle.  They found a small bag of marijuana, a yellow pill and a baby bottle filled with a purple liquid.  The liquid was a codeine cough medicine and the pill was determined to be Ecstasy.  They also found $8388 in cash.  The officers seized the cash because they found the drugs.

Molina was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and two counts of possession of controlled substances.  He was also driving with an invalid driver’s license.
